Media: Milt Gross Sunday Pages

This post is just the tip of the iceberg... see reason number 2 on our The Top Ten Reasons To Support The A-HAA for links to more great posts about print cartoonists.

Milt GrossMilt GrossOne of the artists that we have been focusing on at the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive is Milt Gross. If you saw our posting on Milt Gross' Cartoon Tour of New York, you know just how underrated he is. It's hard to believe that no one has produced a definitive collection based on his career in book form.

Mark Kausler stopped by the Archive on Tuesday and brought a few items from his amazing collection to be digitized. Among the items was a 2 1/2 inch high stack of Milt Gross Sunday pages. When it comes to "Grossiana" these are the holy grail. Many thanks to Mark for sharing these with us.

Here are just the first seven pages on the stack. There are almost 300 more to be digitized!

What a pleasant surprise! Great to see these pages. It would be nice to include dates for them. I own about 2 years worth of "Dave's" Sundays and some dailies, as well, and I'd be happy to lend them at some point, although it sound like you've got a pretty massive stack already. Onward & upward!

We would be very interested in digitizing your collection of Milt Gross strips. We only have a few Dave's Delicatessen strips. That was a great period for him.

Feel free to email me at sworth@animationarchive.org

Thanks
