Media: Charlie McElmurry "Year Of The TIger"

Every year, ASIFA-Hollywood along with Women in Animation and the Animation Guild hosts an "Afternoon of Remembrance" to honor all of the people from the animation community who passed away in the preceding year. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, January 28th at the Hollywood Heritage Museum, across the street from the Hollywood Bowl.

One of the people remembered there this year will be Charlie McElmurry, who passed away earlier this month. Charlie was active among the Los Angeles commercial scene for thirty years, beginning in the 1950s. He worked with Mike Lah at Quartet FIlms, the studio whose production records reside in the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive.

I've scanned a storyboard by McElmurry from a 1973 Tony the Tiger commercial called "Cousin" for inclusion in our digital archive. You might remember the spot. It was directed by Mike Lah and animated by Ken Walker and Ken O'Brien. Here it is...
